I must be rather bored cause I read through all 30 pages of responses.

I thought I would toss out a few comments for what they are worth.

If you ignore the "topic" of the blocks, the skill shown in each block is absolutely amazing, truly mind blowing in skill department.

The topic....well I can find the humor, not something I would want in my house, but then I wouldnt want a regular sunbonnet sue in my home either....personal preference.

Also, a historical note (excuse the digression here) for those who find this disturbing. I am not asking you to change your mind, just think of this....

In and before the 1600's it was considered the utmost in disgust to draw the inside of a human body. Physicians prior to the enlightenment period were killed for daring to try to understand how our bodies worked. Many found the depictions to be religiously and socially wrong, to the point of killing the artist. Our perceptions of right/wrong are based on societal norms and morals. I thank goodness that I am was born after the age of enlightenment, at a point where my opinions my be objected to, I will thankfully not be killed for them.

Art in what ever medium is for the sole purpose of eliciting emotion. Be it negative or positive, the act of having an emotional response is what makes true Art "ART". And in that respect, I daresay the OP is an Artist.

You are a meanie to poor Sue! You sure have a vast imagination. Is this a subconsious feeling you have about all Sue's or just the SueBonnet's? This quilt will really get everyones attention. You may end up in jail for murder!

Meanie-me. No just SBS, my friends at work named Sue have a blast with these because they do know me for reals.
If truth be told, I don't hate SBS. She just makes for a deliciously excellent victim.

My humble thanks! I am also glad that I live in the somewhat enlightened age because I would have been in real trouble in the old days.

They are amazing! I am getting ready to do some sunbonnet Sue in embroidery, but I like these as well. It would be great to pair up with some fabric that had murder or mystery, or criminal theme....

They are funny and I'm sure some people are so sick of Sunbonnet that they really feel this way!

Memereo8 Hey dear lady. Raggedy Ann and Andy are classic children's fables, exhibiting no death and destruction in their storybook existence. Perhaps a photo of adults dressed as classic characters, giving out candy and treats at a celebrated children's holiday could be misinterpreted by a young one until the situation was explained to them as simply adults dressing in costume to delight youngsters. But how would one explain away the reference to Sun Bonnet Sue's bloody, painful and macabre demise to a youngster as "humor". Makes one go "Hmmmmm". Country1's DH.

In my earlier life I was a Kindergarten teacher (no kidding) and I think I have a pretty good understanding of the young psyche. I promise you that no kids will be harmed by my quilt. Kids can tell the difference between a character in a story - particularly when it is a fictional character, and the evening news. My friend Sue just today showed me a picture that her DGD drew of a zombie kitty. So I disrespectfully disagree with the notion that children would be scarred for life by such a picture. (Besides, children are not my audience.) I would be much more cautious with people in disguise coz who knows what pervert might lurk beneath that costume.

But I digress. My focus is and has been the creativity (albeit morbed and macabre) of my blocks.

To each his or her own. This really isn't hurting anyone including a fictional quilt icon.
