Not a dumb question, its called a One Block Wonder. You just buy one fabric (good for me cuz I have a terrible time picking fabric(s) for a quilt) and with some special cutting and hexagons, you end up with a quilt looking pretty muc completely different than your original fabric.

jackkip - it is a one block wonder

I think the arrangement on these quilts is harder than the piecing but I very much like your arrangement. Looks like you did great!
