So I'm FINALLY getting back into finishing my son's quilt ( my very first quilt too) and am at the point of putting borders on it to make it bed size. The edges of the quilt are slightly off (all squares don't line up evenly), so I tried folding it up and cut it to make it even with my June Taylor slot ruler.

I sewed on my first border, then second before I realized that there was a section where the first border didn't catch my squares....So I undid the borders and cut the main part of the quilt again and reattached my border. Now the last blue square is too narrow and the quilt its angled inside. My husband says its not noticeable, but I know he's just being nice and wants me to just hurry up and finish.
There has to be an easier way!! Please help me!! What can I do in the future to not have the problem?? Is it the ruler? Maybe I'm folding it too many times when I want to trim the edges? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What can I do to fix the quilt? Should redo the side squares? I'm afraid to touch it now. I know when I'm tired and working on it I tend to make more mistakes. I'm so close to finishing the top, have one more border...yet so far away.....

see right blue square

It is not that noticeable. Finish it the way it is. Then you will be free to start on something new. One of the instructors of a class I took, said she puts at least one mistake into every quilt to make it personal. Then she does not tell anyone what that mistake is. Usually no one notices.

It's fabulous for your first quilt!! I think the experts will weigh in, but I don't fold my quilts when I am squaring them up. You could also google squaring up a quilt. Keep on quilting. You are doing a great job.

I think it look great. If you didn't mention it I would not have looked for it. Go ahead and finish it as is. Your DH is right!!
