Nope, quilted the entire thing on my Janome 6500 with FMQ. I find it peaceful as long as I have the time to do it.

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

I really want to be able to do that. Your feathers are perfect!! Tell me how to free motion like that. Did you mark first, and if you did what are you using for marking??? Please tell me your steps so someday I can attempt to quilt like you. I can't believe the perfection

I practiced for about half a day on a small piece of the same type of batting I was using, sandwiched between scrap fabric of the same weight. After I felt a bit more confident, I plunged in. I marked that are inside the blocks with a sliver of Dove white soap because it showed up better on the darker fabrics. For the feathers around the borders, I used Fons & Porter's white mechanical pencils. It erased nicely from the tan fabrics. Now that it's finished I'll throw it in the wash to make sure that the soap residue is all washed away.
