I think I would put a 2" (finished) sashing between each block with the darker color, then border it with a lighter color.

Love this pattern, the colors you have selected and the warm and snuggly look. I am sure you will find the just right quilting pattern to finish it with.

Love it, wish it was weather to wrap up in but when I arose this morning it was 90 degrees so don't see quilting today
