[QUOTE=ube quilting;5791210]This turned out beautiful. Becoming a quilter early in life, unlike me, must be so rewarding. I would have loved to learn how to hand piece, use templates and quilt on an old fashioned frame. Arthritis has put the kibosh on that pipe dream. What to did deserves appreciation. Kudos to you for completing this beauty.

Didn't you read her post? I'm laughing. She almost lost her mind!! I give her an A++ for perseverance and the quilt is lovely BUT I think most of us quilters would agree on the fact that there is no sanity in these old, out of date methods unless you're into mindfulness meditation...and who's got time for that?

I love it, it is stunning !!! Please don't throw it out !!! Although I know how you feel. I did a kaleidoscope quilt in 26 different shades and prints of Indigo Blue. Before the days of the handy little ruler gadget. It only had 1344 pcs. lol But I did finish it , and I still love it, and I still put it on my bed. Carry on, and don't give in to the temptation to chuck it in the corner.

Hey, it's a beautiful quilt. I understand.....I once quilted a queen sized by hand just to know that I could. Congratulations on getting to the finish line. Now put some thread in that needle and get to quilting! ;-)

I think your quilt is very striking and beautiful. I think it is awesome that you did one in the old fashion way. I'm sure you have appreciation for earlier quilters work. I think they also took a very long time to finish one as time to work on them was after everything else was finished, or during a quilting bee. Even if you you never do another totally by hand and no shortcuts you will have had the experience at least once. I remember reading once in regard to hand piecing vs. machine piecing someone stating that if our ancestors had sewing machines they would have used them too. And one advantage of hand piecing is it is portable. Congrats on a great quilt.
