After learning about the family member who followed her DH to the Civil War as a battle field nurse, I was inspired to make a cot quilt. But I chose to downsize this to a nice table runner size. I found this by googling "Civil War nurse". Here's the link:
    http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/c.../cot_quilt.htm

I just swapped some CW prints with a couple of members--now want to make a regular size cot quilt.

    Original block size 10"; mine 2 1l2"

Thanks Rhonda--As to the virtual section (miniature) oftentimes it's the first place I look!

Thanks everyone-it was fun to make, but not easy to use quick piecing techniques--basically each square was sewn square by square. I chose to use the muslin as that fabric was commonly used during the era as well--in fact had random pieces of the muslin which I tea dyed to get a more aged look. I am giving this in memory of Lydia (CW nurse) to the distant family member who has supplied me with lots of information on my DH's family.

Lovely quilt. Don't know if I have patience to use such small pieces. You did a great job.
