Nana's Flower Garden

Nana's Flower Garden
I've been working on this since March. I had a lot of encouragement from members of this board and thought you all might want to see the finished product. I made it for my grandmother-in-law (our last remaining grandparent) who has dementia and stays in a nursing home. I hope it brightens her day. I named it Nana's Flower Garden. The block patterns are by Carol Doak and the layout is a variation of one in her book.

I agree that it is a very lovely quilt and a ton of work. ( I do love the paper piecing) but have to agree with putting a LARGE label on the back and perhaps even writing your name in indelible marker on back before you sew on the label. I speak from the experice of when my mom was in a nursing home. Not saying or accusing but several 'things' just disappeared! Just giving you a heads up. :-)

What a bright and cheerful quilt! I agree, it needs some kind of name tag. Things tend to get misplaced or disappear in nursing homes. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and would sometimes go into other people's rooms and bring stuff back to her room. We were always returning things.
