Default Scrappy Court Jester

Here's my latest finish -- the pattern was called "Snail's Trail Al Fresco", but the snail's trail blocks remind me of a Court Jester's cap.

I wanted to challenge myself in two ways -- first, piecing the blocks and Not losing any points. Because of the bulk at the points, I pressed the major seams open, so there was no nesting when assembling the rows . That meant lots of pinning and matchy-matchy ... not my favorite way to work! Second, when I quilted on my longarm, I wanted to do something interesting, Judy Madsen-style, in the negative space. The border was the biggest challenge.

Here's a closer view of the borders:

And here's the back (just plain white muslin):

That is spectacular! It really does make a person think of a court jester. Great job.

Love your quilt! You did a fabulous job of emulating and executing Judi's style. I am a huge fan of her's too . Well done!

That's a truly amazing quilt. First I was caught by the colors, then the quilting. Beautiful!
