Personally, I like low contrast quilts like your first picture. It looks soft and pretty as it is. The darker pink looks out of place in this quilt to me. I recently finished a quilt for my DD that was all soft pastels. She loves it. It has an "old" look to it.

I would stay with the recipients' wishes. The quilting will make it more beautiful

I like the first one but I see almost everyone else lights the darker. So use what you think is best.

I would leave it alone, it has a wonderful soft look to it and I think it looks great

I like the softer paler pink. It just seems to suit the pattern IMHO.

I, too, like the one you have done (the first one) makes it look so antique and so soft and pretty. I wouldn't mess with it.

I personally like the softer look of the approved color scheme. Depends on what the recipient has in mind. the darker may be too much color, say if she has a light colored room she plans to use this in. Ask her, before you change things, then she will be happy
