your quilt is beautiful and I don't think that border would do it justice. I like your idea about making a border with applique on it. Be sure to show us the finished product.

No. It's wrong. Your blocks are beautiful and you wouldn't want to attach that to it. Take the top to your LQS, lay it on a table and get busy matching different bolts to it and seeing which pattern/color either sets the blocks or 'completes' the quilt top. Good luck.

I voted a scrappy border with what ever left overs you have...
then if you have to add some other fabrics and not too wide...

okay! what about this???????
these are finished sizes! a 2" cream border with MAYBE a 1" blue then 6 inch piano keys scrappy all around and finished off with 2" of cream and bound with oh hell ill find something to bind it with! what does that sound like? i can see it in my eye just wish i had eq7 already so i could SEE it! let me know what you think of THAT and thank all of you so very much for all of your help you are all fantastic!

I love your top, it's beautiful. Great job! I think that border is too busy and takes away from your blocks. I would try something in a different color solid.

I think you need to do two borders, one small and one wider. So it's not SOOO much border. But perhaps a white or cream in a 3 inch and then a darker solid in a 5 inch? I like solid borders or darker small prints for borders. That large flower just doesn't catch my "Oooh... " eye.
