All are absolutely gorgeous. Quilting should be very easy for her, mostly straight stitching for quilt making.

I am having a similar experience. I have neighbor 2 girls, 11 & 9. They want to learn to sew. I have introduced them to my friend, Della, who makes doll clothes. She is working with the girls on the doll clothes. The older one has learned to hand piece from me. They have 1 sewing machine for the 2 of them. The hand piecing just seemed natural. She takes it to church, like for choir practice when she is waiting for her sister to be ready to go. She was putting them together faster than I could keep up with, so I showed her how to lay it out and cut it out. She is just doing an amazing job. The girls have given each of us a renewed love for what we do. they have so many questions and are so eager to learn from us and we are so eager to share with them. My sewing room is a bedroom and it can get really close when the 4 of us get in here, but we just squeeze in and go to it. Thank you for sharing and for allowing me to share with you.

Those quilts are all lovely. How great that you two are sharing a love of fabric. There's more connection going on than just with needle and fabric, I'm sure you and this young lady will come to always treasure your time together.

She does very nice work; how wonderful that you have a sewing companion to enjoy.

Thank y'all for all the comments. I will send her a link so she can read them. By the way, I forgot to mention that she just turned 16. She entered these quilts in the Perry National Fair (well, the 2nd and 3rd ones) and got Blue Ribbons. She also got a special award (sorry, I can't remember the name) where she may receive a sewing machine. It takes a few weeks to get the prizes, so she is unsure about the sewing machine, but that is what it sounded like to me. She can just whip them up and then machine quilts them. I've really enjoyed her being here each week.

This young lady will go far and we'll probably be reading her story and making her quilts one day. What a wonderful experience for you both having your weekly quilting time together.
