This is a wonderful assignment to share your love of quilting. There will be one or two students that you taught this year that will become quilters because of what you shared with them. Thank you for doing what you do!

I just have to join the others in saying what a great idea. It shows these students there are more rewarding things to do in life other than just sitting in front of a TV set or a computer screen (unless you are reading this board of course).

Can't believe you're a newbie. What a challenging pattern you picked and what a great job you did!

Pab58, This is a wonderful idea for a Grandmother's quilt. It would be interesting to see how it would turn out with different names. Eiltcoq.

My grandma (my mom's mother) died in October '09, and I asked for, and was given, quite a few of grandma's housedresses (aka dusters). I want to make each of my aunts and uncles (7 total) something small from them -- perhaps a pictorial wallhanging or pillow, etc. Mom, however, gets something really special. I will use the fabric from the different dresses for the backgrounds of the nameflakes and make the flakes in coordinating solid colors. I will use the names of my mom's siblings, her name, and grandma and grandpa's names. Two of my mom's siblings died as infants, but I will include their names, too. The center block will be a picture of grandma and grandpa. I think mom will love it! 8-)

How wonderfully creative of you...you must be an A-1 teacher from what I see...keep up the with the innovative ideas and those kids will soak it up.
