My brother works at a lumber supply store and I got some of the plastic strapping tape (used) that comes on packages from him to stiffen the top of my bag.

Caroline, it would be shelf liner, maybe where they sell contact paper,
or in a hardware store, guys use it for thier tool chests,it would be black rubber.usually in a small roll.

some of it has a "waffle weave"

It is similar to the bed pocket from the One Yard Wonder book. I am making the for my grandsons. It fits under the bed mattress to put in little items like glasses. comic books, tv remote, etc. They whip up so quick.
