I am making this Once upon a time quilt and have just finish the center. Now I need to come up with the border. I am stuck.. I thought I would use a 1 1/2 black inter border, but not sure. Then I would like to put at least a 6 inch border to finish it. It is quite busy so not sure what to do. The way the quilt works is you start in the center and follow a path and make up a story as you go..

Love it! I would use a narrow black border and then maybe a wide border of the pathway fabric. Did you develop this idea?

Your quilt is adorable and I love this idea of storytelling.

what a wonderful child's quilt - I can picture moms & kids cuddling together for 'storytime'. Can you share source of pattern or did you design it?

I suggest black to frame (do you have more with colored dots?) then a lighter color. The pathway fabric may work well. Audition it & see how you like it.

Fun quilt! My grandchildren would love it! Very clever idea. Not sure how much help I can be - the quilt is so colorful perhaps a sawtooth border done with the blue in the quilt and bright solids that pick up some of the many fun colors...gosh, will be fun to see how this comes out...please post a final pic and good luck!

I saw the Idea at this site. Then I drew out my idea on how I would do it. My Husband put it on cad and made a pattern to work off.

What a cute quilt for young children. I think your idea for a narrow black border is great. You could pick out about any color out of the blocks and use for the outer border. Maybe a tone on tone fabric or a check or something like that. What pattern is the quilt made from?
