Default Obento - my quilt for Junko, Ian and baby Julian

My friends Junko and Ian are going to be parents in a couple of months - their first. Junko is from Japan, she and Ian decided to moosh their names together and came up with Julian for the baby - so I used the Bento Box pattern, Asian prints, making 'positive' and 'negative' squares of each combination (Yin and Yang), a simple SID quilting, then went online to find the katakana for Julian (Japanese phonetic rendering of foreign words), to put on the label. The backing is a batik with Kanji writing - it just all seemed to come together perfectly.

It was passed around the room at the shower, with everyone oohing and aahing, and people are still talking about it three weeks later - I think I could get to like this acclaimation thing for my quilting!
