Be very careful with that mold and don't keep the machine in your house until it is cleaned. Wear a mask AND gloves!! Mold is so dangerous! So glad she purrs though!

Wow! Needs some TLC but it'll be worth it. If she runs shes good, nothing that a little love won't cure. Congrats on winning the bid and your new baby!

she looks like a huge project. What an undertaking. At least she sounds good. Be very careful with the mold, I would wear a mask

unless you got this at a fantastic price, i would return it. they're not in short supply and you don't need a moldy machine that also needs work.

Are you sure that's mold and not aluminum rot? Aluminum rot is not something you can readily fix. Typically when that happens, the machine ends up being used for parts. You might want to join the Featherweight group on Yahoo to get some opinions from the gurus on that group.

I have never heard of aluminum rot....after cleaning, it does not appear to be mold (is not affected by wiping or bleach) Metal is rough and white....

I think that's oxidized aluminum.

You need to contact the seller and send that baby back...If the Alum is rotting underneath thaat's not good...Unless you got her really cheap I'd return her...Just my opinion...there are so many good ones out there for a few more bucks you could get one in near mint condition...

Obviously the seller is not a lover of our craft or the tools that go along with it. Your new baby just needs the TLC she deserves now that she is home!
