I bought some buttons at an estate sale and this one looks interesting but I am not sure what it could be made of. It looks like it is a carving that has been placed on a backing then brass wrapped around it. Any ideas? its about 5/8" wide

I don't know, either, but I would love it! It's just beautiful. Can you imagine carving that center part?

What a beautiful button. The carving would be a stunning quilting motif.

Beautiful! Old buttons are so unique. Just can't find that kind of craftsmanship in the buttons of today.
