This is the last of the ten baby quilts that we have been working on this spring and summer. This baby was born to a co-worker several weeks ago, but I have been stalling on the quilt.

When she was expecting, I asked what the nursery would look like, and she told me it was a cherry blossom theme: cherry wood, very pastel pink with some pastel green, ivory and yellow. She wanted a light, airy feel with soft colors.

We knew we didn't have the skills to applique a cherry tree onto a quilt, and we didn't want to learn on this project. We tried to figure out how to do something that would look like a cherry tree, but nothing was really satisfactory. In the end we ended up going ultra easy and just did a mosaic that suggests (if you really use your imagination) a cherry tree.

During the ten quilt marathon, we decided that in the future we would make baby quilts the way we liked them, and not worry about trying to match the nursery.

So now the question: Does anyone see a cherry tree? Be honest - I can take it.

Thanks for looking.

Darren

In the babyland world that is a beautiful cherry tree. You did a great job and it will be a treasure to the infant. Thank you for sharing.

I see all the leaves on the ground but the cherries are still on the tree. I like what you did.
