Default Old Friends from the Quit Shop

This quilt is made from over 180 different fabrics that my older sister had bought when she worked in a quilt shop back in the late 70's.

It had been in her sewing room, exposed to sunlight for many years (so a lot has fade lines in it) and then boxed up for the last 25 or so. I finally talked her into letting me put it to use. As she went through the boxes she said it was like visiting with old friends, remembering when she bought some of the fabric and working at that shop.

The field is 180 blocks, all different fabrics. I could not decide on the proper color for the binding, so I cut strips out of the solids and pieced them together and cut that on the diagonal.

Family is getting together this weekend, so DH and I will be making the 5 hour drive, I'm excited to see what she thinks of it.

Really attractive; the multi-colored binding makes it! Wishing you a safe trip and a Wheeler & Wilson #8 finding you.

Great idea for a quilt full of memories?

My question is what did you do with the rest of the fabric after you cut the individual small squares from it? There must be enough for several more similar quilts.
