Oh no....that means either two darks or two lights come together in the block. I continued anyway. I tore pages out of a phone book, drew my patterns, strip pieced the wedge, laid the pattern on top, cut it out adding 1/4" around, and voila....7 sides instead of 8! Must've grabbed the wrong pattern!! haha. What do we do now????? What was I thinking???? I now have an odd quilt. I just laid the blocks out all sewn together except the bottom left is just laid out for now. We'll make the best of it!! We can turn it around!! I hope. Thanks for looking at my K block gone bad!
If you add strips of white, black, or red to "square up" each block you would get a really neat septagon - star - diamond as in this diagram.
Thank you so much, catmcclure, for this wonderful diagram depicting the images together!! What a help this is!! I had envisioned doing strips of black bands around each one to highlight their shapes and then scraps of many colors after that to square it up and join the blocks that way. Now that you've shown me what it will look like, I will proceed this way. There's no way I want to applique all those on individual squares so this is the perfect solution and I think I'll be able to pull this one off color-wise and definitely block-wise!! Wish I had one of the EQ series, but I could've drawn this in MS Paints or used CorelDraw. Oh, gosh, this is just fabulous! I can picture the outcome better now and it may not be so odd after all. Kudos!!!

Now I see that there's not much room as I thought for the strip piecing of the sides so I'll just do it in all black for the background to bring out the colors of the septagon....and then there's the possibility of making the blocks further apart and giving less definition to the overall effect. That looks neat joined closely together......hmmmm :D :D :D

That's me alright!! Only God knows how I get in jams and He's ALWAYS getting me out!! haha. If I allow Him, He'll do something spectacular with this!! Actually, He already has because 7 is God's number!! He's working on a quilt for us too only we don't get to see it 'til we cross the Jordan!!

:-D :-D The Lord will enjoy this thread as much as anyone if I keep talking about Him!! No telling what He will do then!! ha. :D :D

If you make the Stars bright yellow and the diamonds black you'd have a really interesting secondary pattern.

Yes, I will really want to emphasize the secondary star colors!!! So it will be a 3-color quilt so to speak. I love layered looks. This layout gives lots of possibilities!

The same thing happened to me N2 when I did this one..

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-48482-1.htm

As you can see I had to go back and fill all those hole in lol..

Then the other one I did I just added a triangle to four side and that made it a square and then you can join side by side and still have the Kaleidoscope .

I just saw this. What would happen if you laid out seven in a wreath and one in the middle?
