I have been slaving away on this quilt far too long. I finally finished it today. We wanted two samples of the mystery quilt at our Labor Day Retreat--mine is set on point. We post these half way through the day. Don't look too closely as one bird pic got twisted. This quilt did not work out and it seemed like it took forever. I took the pics and put it away. I am so glad to be done with it--well this far anyway.

I like your quilt very much. I think you are being too hard on yourself. I'm probably a dummy, but what defines a mystery quilt?

Well, we create a pattern usually something simple. We tell the retreaters before hand what is needed for the quilt and even have them do some basic before-hand stuff. Then throughout the day we hand out the second, third, etc steps. This is my second year to do this for our retreat--one day only--and we have about 60 people attend. Of course not all do the mystery quilt. By the way this one was created from my stash.

Mystery quilts can be so much fun to do - especially if several people are doing them at the same retreat. I love to see the exact same pattern done in different fabrics.

Yours came out great! Who says birds always fly in the same direction anyway? If you must, you can use that block as your "mistake on purpose".

Maybe I will post the question "where is the mistake or boo boo?"
