Barbus were u on vacation? Okay waiting to see more :D :-)
Not really. I had all my kids and grandkids drive up to Oregon to have our pictures taken with my mother. She is 93 and her health falling so we had a family reunion and took 5 generation pictures. It was a fun day and then DH rode back home with one of my daughters and I stayed up with mother and got her to the doctors for an adjustment on her meds and made arrangements for the next level of care at the assisted living facility where she has her own apartment. It is not fun watching her go downhill but I guess that is the way it is going to be. I am just thankful that she is still able to live in her own apaartment and has good care givers. I know she would not be happy where we live. It is so hot in the summer and it would be impossible for her to get in and out of our home with her wheel chair and she has been living at the facility for over 20 years and all her friends are there. I did get quite a few of the blocks
pieces cut and ready to sew together in between taking care of mother's needs. DH had some frustrating times while I was up there and says he is so glad I am back home. He tried to be 'on his own' and it will be several days before I have all the upps cleaned up. He really did pretty good except trying to make coffee and use the microwave. He is totally blind and had never seen a tv dinner when he could see and had lots of challeges opening the boxes and putting a rectangle pan on a merrigoround in the microwave and then figuring out what he was eating after he took it out. LOL I wish I could have been a fly on the wall.He went shopping with me to get what he thought he would like to eat. I think the next time I leave him on his own I will have all his meals in the plastic containers that we use for leftovers for lunches and maybe he will have an easier time of it. He also got turned around trying to retrieve our garbage cans in front of our property after the garbage men collected. We have no curbs or fences and it is all open area once he walked off the driveway. Thank goodness we live on a quiet street and not much traffic. He managed to locate the driveway after wondering in circles for he says an hour. He can even get lost in our house but can direct me when we go up to Redding or to Chico. I have no sence of direction and get lost easily.

Oh Barb, what an ordeal for your DH. Does he get frustrated easily? Glad you are able to see your Mom and that she is happy.

Bebe, I have had so many grands here this summer and couldn't concentrate, so put blocks aside for now. Will have company until the end of August and will start up again on them then.

We are also thinking about moving so are looking at houses and the thought of packing up this house is scary!!!

After reading the B-day block thread, I hope my blocks will meet everyone's approval.

Barb glad you went to see your mom. Hubby had to struggle though while u were gone :(

Beachlady u will do fine. :D

Note from Bebe :!: :!: :D :D

We all need to follow the instructions and our guidelines , measure our blks and all. We can do it :!: :!: :!: :D :D . No need to get stressed out I know u ladies are doing your best and that is what counts.

There are risk when we enter swaps. We all sew at different levels and we all strive for perfection but it does not always happen. Overall it should be fun and rewarding and to make new friends.
.
Swapping is more about friendship :D :D :D .

When you get your blocks and not all are perfect think this:
Think unique and not flawed :!: :!: :!:

As a hostess I developed a few guidlines for us to follow. Keep these few in mind and we all will do well !!!!

1. Fabric and color requirements. If you do not know what a certain color looks like ask the hostess or participant. Do not just guess!!!!

2. Accuracy guidelines, 1/4 inch and 12 1/2 in block unfinishe and 12 finished.

3. Ask questions the more the better. :D  :?

4. Meet your deadline.

Happy Quilting!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I have not melted....yet, and I did get a few more blocks sewn. I am totally frustrated with that silly Clover Blossom (but not you Quilting Turtle) I bet I have taken it apart 6 TIMES!!! I give up...I'm going to buy more fabric and start over on it. Here are the other 2 I've done lately though.

Grandmother's Cross is for mghrs...I only used 1 red...do you want me to do it over and add another? and Barbsbus's Pieced Star. Hope they are alright. Let me know if not

looking good Sandpat! love the blue on g'mas cross. It's funny how each of us have a different block that drove us crazy. I made Grandmas Cross 2x's before I got it to measure 12.5--I used the same fabrics in a quilt for my son so he's going to get some nice throw pillows.

I was asked about my colors since I requested three and here is my answer:

You know, I have never done a log cabin block before either and so when I was asked what colors I wanted, I picked three colors not thinking about how they were going to go together. So I think some squares pink and brown, and some green and brown.

I'm still here, I'm just over halfway done and I think I have posted all the photos. I'm currently neck deep in other projects that must be completed first. When they settle down I'll be back to the block challenge. (That's why I did so many early I knew I would have less time now).

Oh my Barb that must be very difficult. Perhaps when you premake his meals you could put different things in different containers, for instance tupperware small rounds are soup, and rectangular glad has lazana? I know different kinds of containters "feel different" either in the type of the plastic or with the name imprinted on the top.

I don't know what your collection of plastic looks like, though I just learned that while the deli select lunch meat has glad emblazed on the top, the Butterball slices have Butterball indented on the top. Would something like that help?

Oh Bettlove I'm sorry you haven't seen any of your blocks yet, I made yours but my seam allowances were to big and it ended up only being 12" and I haven't been back to it yet. I used all your colors. Here is the picture I'm planning on remaking it exactly the same unless you tell me otherwise.

As you can see I mixed them up by tone so you would have a "light side" and a "dark side"
