Very nice K! PP is a blast! There was a time before DJ that I would avoid anything resembling PP. Now I love it!

The technique kind of 'clicks' once you grasp the concept of working from the back, I found. The key is to work methodically around the block, especially with the more complex designs. There's no secret really, you just have to concentrate and plod away. Start with a simple block, like the one amma suggests and work your way up to more complex ones. Don't be put off by the tiny pieces. This is the big advantage of PP - that you CAN use such weeny bits! That and the fact that your points are ALWAYS perfect! My ultimate goal is something like this guy's work http://www.georgesiciliano.com/ Be sure to check out the gallery - look at the bottom and it tells you the size of the work and how many pieces there are in it.

Ripping PP is not nice because the stitches are so small. I do it with the blade of my rotary cutter (I use the small one for this). Hold the top piece of fabric up and away with the left hand, under slight tension and snick the stitches with the cutter held in the right hand. Obviously reverse if you're a lefty. :-D

Hah, I looked at his site and was totally amazed. Can you imagine all those seam allowances built up under all those edges? I made an 8 section circle PP for the current quilt in progress, used poly thread to stitch it together and 1/8" seam allowances and thought that was thick. My circle was 9" diam. finished and 218 pieces.
As to your comment above - I've found if people ask you how long it took to make, they aren't quilters and really have no idea the number of hours we take for our craft.

Thanks everyone. FWL? is there a reason you used poly thread? Just wondering. I always piece with YLI 60 wt, which is really thin and strong.
