Love it! Great job with the paper piecing. I have a pattern something like these pines, but like a few of them, I haven't gotten around to starting it.

That looks great. If the regular batting doesn't show through, I don't see why you couldn't use that. For the backing, I just generally use whatever strikes me at the time!

I think you should forget you ever read that business about the backing color and just use whatever you want.

I have used drapery lining for the backing on a wall hanging and have also used a pants-weight cotton. This works if you are machine quilting, but wouldn't be good for hand quilting. The heavier weight of the backing makes the wall hanging hang nicely.

Beautiful quilt! use Thermacore and you will have no bearding with the batting.
