those were done a couple of years ago. Joette closed the store more than a year ago. Her husband died and she decided not to carry on with it. They had had a rough couple of years with all the flooding. Kalona was almost cut off from the world when it flooded two or three years ago and the town had a hard time financially.

I started selling to Joette in 98. Her mom still owned it then but Joette took over a couple of years later. She was great to work with. I sold to her for 12 years and did quite well.

Yes, Dave's death was hard, but he kept faith to the end (from my youthful church). Mom says he left a strong testimony. Some of the farmers went back to planting wheat to accomodate the shorter growing season between when the land became dry enough to get in and harvesting. It was so pretty to see the wheat fields when the sun shone brightly on them. Stop in Stitch 'n Sew if you get the chance. :D Tell Grace or Dorothy Bev sent you. :D

Was in there a week or two ago. It is one of my favorite shops. They always have something I like. We go to Iowa City to the Va alot and I stop as often as I can. Tigger was saying the other day she found a shop in Hills I didn't know was there. Now I want to try it out.

thanks Jane. I did well in Yoders. I miss it. She had a lady come in one time who was a missionary to Japan. She bought out all my hotpads and bookmarks and used them as easy to pack gifts for when she visited the Japanese people in the homes.
Then there was a lady who came in and bought up all my stuff and took it home to the Netherlands. I went international way before I ever got on the board! LOL I was having to keep 30 to 50 hotpads on the shelf to keep from having a bare shelf in her store. i know more would have sold if I had the time to make more. The bookmarks were my second best seller. I designed them specifically for Joette. She always wanted new items that were small and would pack easily for tourists. So I developed my bookmarks. I hated to see the store closed. Joette had become a friend after 12 years.
