Here are the pictures of my little lightweight. It was born in 1947, and still sews very quietly and smoothly.

This is a Featherweight and although it is light only 11 lbs., it is not called a lightweight. Your Featherweight looks great but there are several clues about this machine that makes me think it is from 1957 not 1947. You could find out for sure by checking the serial number against the official Singer list which will tell you when this machine was made. Yours says 221 on it and earlier models (before 1956) did not include the model number. Your machine also has the newer throat plate with the marked seam allowances, the newer style decals (after 1955) and the striated (striped) face plate. I hope you are enjoying your great little machine.

Very pretty Featherweight. I just love my 3.
What's the serial number? Its on the bottom in a raised rectangle, two letters followed by 6 numbers. I know that yours is a 50s model. I have the same decals.

It's a great little machine. I was wonder too if it was a '47 because mine is a '47 & doesn't have all the things Shelbie said. (Except mine does have the straited face plate.) But decals, etc are the older style.
