This is my 4th quilt, a 98" x 98" king size. The block is called "wonky star," and I got the idea for it from this board. For a beginner, this is a great quilt because the star points are not measured, and just placed wherever they look good. It was fun! Here's the tutorial I followed:

    http://thesillyboodilly.blogspot.com...-tutorial.html

The quilt is for my sister, a University of Florida fan, who still lives in Gainesville, FL, and is at every football home game. You know this was a labor of love because I'm a die hard University of Alabama fan. I couldn't resist commenting on the family football rivalry in a hidden spot in the quilt. (See next to last photo below.)

I collected orange and blue fat quarters to make this quilt.

Each block is 14" x 14". I used the Cotton Theory method, so I quilted each block on my domestic machine.

I embroidered around the inside of each center square as part of the quilting.

In case you're wondering, "Moore" is our maiden name.

Back of the quilt shows my straight line quilting. Easy!

Notice the embroidery on this block. Do you think my sister will notice it?!

    The Quilt Inspector is satisfied.

How Cool! I love this idea...What size is your quilt? How many blocks did you have?
i was thinking that your pattern could be used with family names embroidered in the center.... there are 22 in our family right now. maybe the blocks that hung down the side of the bed would be blank and the family names would be on top of the bed... not sure....but doing something with the family names:) sorry i am rambling, but I love your idea:)
    sincerely,
