So I have it all done, some is 3-D. I attempted to pin some flower petals back to show the effect, lower right.

Now, I'm want to embroider (machine) around the birds and houses and flowers, and stich in the ditch.

What do you think?

Go for it! This quilt is lovely. If you have a vision as to how it should be quilted, trust your instincts!

If you end up with enough unquilted area, you could do phantom flower outlines, a flying bird, etc. in addition to outlining the figures there.

How cute is that!?

I go with the never ever leaving alot of background unquilted! The fabrics sags after awhile. I liked the idea of outlines of birds or flowers. Would make a great quilt sparkle!
