Four patches work up quickly especially when strip pieced like this one.

But individual four patches are quick and easy too just made with individual squares. I do Bonnie Hunter's leader and enders method, where she sews pieces together at the beginning and end of regular sewing, so her machine is never empty and the thread doesnt get pulled down into the plate with that first stitch.

She describes the method well on her website www.quiltville.com. I made my avatar quilt with foupatches I made as leaders and enders. I had more than 300 fourpatches in a basket!

It's beautiful - great colors and fabrics. Mary Ellen Hopkins always says to use simple quilt patterns but use them with great fabrics.
