 Sheesh ... Thanks justquilting! I honestly feel humbled when I look at some of the experianced quilter's work here on the quilting board. Each quilt I do, I try and make it the very best I know how to do. I try and stretch myself with new patterns occationally and it helps me to learn to design better.

My neighbor gave me a design board, but, I haven't figured out where to hang it up yet. Like I said at the begining, I had to take this apart twice and add to it before it looked right to me.

What is a design board?

okay, so then she goes out and makes an heirloom and I have to say something!
Good going! It may be because my children were especially messy, but I wouldn't ever let your creation do anything but show up on very, very, VERY special occasions.
I commend you on your work. It took a lot of time and it shows.
it is a source of delight to me to see pink and green working together so nicely, since neither is my first favorite colors ... you have almost changed my mind! LOL

Cute cute cute!!! Now there are only 7 days in a week and you have 8 embroidered blocks. What's on the 8th block?

Oh Girls you are all too kind. Thanks so much for commenting so sweetly.

Yes the last block is my signature block. But, I had a hard time designing it around eight blocks. It made it want to be on the longer side than what I originally planned it to be.

jbstrawberry ... you remember it from your childhood? Did you have one around? I love these old embrodery patterns. I have tons of them.

blizzardqueen.... a design board is either a free standing or wall hung felt that you can put your unsewn blocks onto to see how it will look when you set everything together. It is much like having a dress form, you know it is right before you commit yourself. If I had used it before the first two times I set those blocks, I would have seen that was wrong and saved myself taking out all those seams.

Red that is just beautiful and your embroidery is exquisite! I love pink and green - so pretty and fresh! I'm glad you included a signature block - that will be an heirloom for sure! :D

No, actually I had a story book with Myrtle the Turtle as the main character. My mom use to read it to me all the time. It's one of the books she used to teach me to read, long before I started kindergarten. I believe there were some poems, and limericks in that book too. I wonder whatever happened to that book, I still have a few of my other favorites, but hadn't thought of Myrtle for quite some years until I saw your wonderful quilt. I had Dr. Suess's Yrtle the Turtle too, I must have had a thing for turtles back then LOL.
