I recently took a class on Strip, quilt as you go. I am new at all this so thought it would be a good way to learn something new. Here are my placemats:

As you can see, I did them different directions - mistake #1. I had made the two on the right, and they were downstairs, while I was starting the 2 on the left and that was upstairs.

The other thing is - the first two are a tad bit smaller than the next two. I'm really bad at getting things to match up! I guess practice makes perfect, but still.....

This is the hot pad I made to go with

It's a learning curve, and they will all look great on the table, so don't worry!

You did not make mistakes. You made placemats and when you set the table no one will think you did anything other than make them to alternate on purpose unless you chose to share otherwise (I wouldnt). They are pretty and again, size difference the only time that EVER shows up is A) stacked, no one will see them stacked and B) if you lay them out like you just did which again you wont do as well no one sits like that.. even a few inches apart from each other and it wont be noticable at all. AND I have been sewing for a real long time and guess my learning curve is still going up as I do the above as you OFTEN and truly it doesnst matter if you like what you have done. I love what you have done.

They're beautiful! Don't worry about them being different sizes -- when they're on the table, no one will notice -- except you!! :D :D

Very nice - I agree with Elisabrat

As with anything else, practice makes perfect - also remember that there are NO quilt police :-)

How are we supposed to know that you didn't lay them out that way on purpose?

Your only mistake is to point out your mistake!

    Love the colours.
