I am doing quilt as you go sets for everyone but the grands for Christmas. Got 4 done this week, ready to bind. My goal is to do it all with only my stash (fabric left over from the aprons I made last year for Christmas, batting pieces left over, binding left over). I like yours, but am not willing to do the applique letters.

You can find a font on your computer that you like, type your word and then enlarge it to the size you want. Trace the letter, backwards, on to fusible web. Iron it to the wrong side of your lettering fabric. Cut out letters and fuse on your placemat fabric. You can stitch around the letters by hand or machine. Hope this helps.
