I definitely like them pointing in. They highlight the fabulous job you have done in the centre so well. Great work!

i just finished sewing the prairie points on and they point in - and i'm loving how it looks.

thank you all for your comments - its nice to have other artists to discuss design elements with.

i should be able to put the binding on tomorrow and that will finish the quilt.

i'll post new pics when its done for all to see our group project.

Looking at them pointing out, I start paying attention to the peaks and valleys, and I think they will hinder the look of the binding, that you are going to make look like another border.
Looking at them pointing in, makes me see them, but then look at the center design, which is what you are supposed to notice...the focal point.

if they faced out, the binding would not have been visible, leaving the quilt without a frame. on this quilt i think a frame, or binding, is indicated, to 'enclose' the movement inside. the points facing in become another of the moving parts that are held in by the binding.

i vote IN. great work.

I'm glad you decided on IN, because that's what I would have voted for if I'd seen this thread in time! The finished quilt is beautiful, and your friend's mother will love it!

I was fully expecting to like them pointing out, but I like the points better pointing toward the center. It seems to add deminsion! I love the quilt and colors!

I agree with the others, that pointing in is the way to go. I had the exact same reaction as several of the others, that it brings one's eye to the focus of the piece, which is the circle. Beautiful quilt!!
