Each month we had a specified "Theme" to produce on the quilt we were working on. The first row was for our own quilt, the theme was "People" (example: angels, dolls, etc.)... and I reproduced myself: In costume "Fat Minnie Mouse"/owned "Six Cats"/love cooking "Chef - Pie - Canning Jars". Other themes were trees, houses, chickens, baskets, flowers, etc.

WOW!

This is an amazing quilt. I don't really understand what you mean with a row by row quilt.

nativetexan 01-25-2011 05:38 PM

I wish i'd had one like that when i was little. lovely!!!
see the rows. you make the quilt, row by row. then put them together. just a name.

mistycatbaby 01-25-2011 05:42 PM

Does one person do the whole quilt or do different people do all the same row on a bunch of quilts?

cwessel47 01-25-2011 05:44 PM

I once had a shrink ask me to do a quilt about me. I wish I'd had those kind of suggestions! Awesome result. I love it!

We had 'seven' gals who participated in this project .... each month was assigned a Theme for the row that was to be done that particular month.

Example: Jan. - Row #1 was "People" (could be dolls, angels, etc. -- I chose to reproduce myself) Row #1 was the 'beginning of "My" quilt.

Feb. - Row #2 was "Houses" and when we met "My Row #1" was passed on to another person .... that person was to make Row #2 .... a row of "Houses". I in turn received someone elses "Quilt with Row #1" .... for me to put together Row #2 .... a row of "Houses" for their quilt.

This went on for "7 Months" with a different theme assigned for each month .... thus the "7 Rows" were made by different people ..... and we called it a "Row-By-Row" Quilt.

It's a great idea. I'm going to see if the quilting guild I joined does something like that.

Take a look at TFquilter posting at http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-76312-1.htm .... she participated in this same "ROW-BY-ROW" project.

owner makes first row then each person does one row on each quilt. ie:5 members, 5 rows. top gets passed from person to person.
