I recently went on a "quilting" cruise--the days we were on the water, we had quilting classes. One of the teachers was Jody Barrows, who taught classes using her Square in a Square ruler. She's been using it for 20+ years and makes it look so easy, but when I tried it, my blocks didn't turn out quite as expected so they ended up in some smaller quilts.
I put backing (fleece) on seven quilts on Sunday. I have four of them quilted now. Pictures attached.

Cute quilts! I have that ruler and found that using it the outside of your blocks end up being on the bias, so need to be handled quite carefully.

Oooo...do you know who makes the alpha animals fabric? I LOVE it!

Sorry--I have no idea where I found it. I often stop at quilt shops when I'm traveling (they always have clean rest room) and I usually buy something--I suspect this may have been one of those purchases.

Very Cute!

We left from Galveston and stopped at Cozumel, Grand Cayman Island, and Jamaica (Montego Bay). It was a great cruise -- my first. My friend, who also quilts, went with me.

Google "Square in a Square" and I think you'll find info and pictures of the ruler.

That is my favorite, as well. Think I will have to keep it in my collection for awhile!

A quilt cruise - I am so jealous!

All of those are cute, but I love the square in a square with butterflies.

Pam 05-04-2010 07:19 AM

Very cute, but I have been on a cruise, how did you find time to sew?

I would like a vacation where I could go on a shop hop, then a 2 week cruise, to get inspired, then a one week retreat to use up all of the stuff from the shop hop and the ideas from the cruise.

THAT is a vacation!

Great quilts!! I'd love to go on a quilt cruise, but don't know if my DH would like the idea or not. We just got back from an eight day cruise and I can't imagine having the time to sew on the ship. There's just so much to do.

marquezluz 05-04-2010 07:43 PM

Vicki,

Thank you for posting this link to my store! Unfortunately, I sold out of the Animal Alphabet panel Rachel used on her quilt rather quickly. However, I still have several yards of 6 other Animal Alphabet prints. They are here: http://lisasstitchingpost.com/index.php?cPath=1_64_57
Thank you again, Vicki. Remind me to send a free Moda Scrap Bag to you with your next order, okay?

:-D
