Last year my twins were in Senior Kindergarten
and they had had the same teacher for both Junior Kindergarten and
Senior Kindergarten.
She was a sweetheart and my Kids ADORED her
We did too - so I decided I wanted to make her a wall quilt for her
classroom as our Christmas gift to her.
I mentioned that I do tons of other crafts and something I did for years was folk art painting. Loved that too but I cut my own wood and stuff with a scroll saw and as I can NOT do that in the house - I am limited to time with that craft - but I had TONS of patterns and it occured to me that I could cut the patterns out of fabric instead of wood and use the patterns as applique.
So I bought a used copy of Electric Quilt 5 (computer quilting program) on ebay and I had a blast designing a 4 panel quilt with a 4 season theme so she could leave it up all year. Its a pretty fair size - its bigger than poster size.
I found cute Crayon fabric that I used in the border and sweet yellow fabric in the sashing that has the alphabet in it!! Oh I had so much fun shopping for adorable buttons that I sewed onto the blocks, there are snowflakes, ladybugs and little flowers that I found AFTER sewing the quilt and the colours were too perfect..

Let me know what you think
(my sashing was a little off in the center - But I noticed it too late)

That came out GREAT!!! What a wonderful gift/idea! You did a great job on it, too. Did you do the machine quilting, as well? If so, you did a good job of it.

That is a great quilt. And I can see that hanging in her classroom for years to come!

Great gift, she will treasure it. Guess I'm going to get on E-bay :D

Okay, tell me this is just your second quilt posted, not your second quilt. You did a fantastic job of sewing and quilting. The design is adorable. How could she not love it and so will all the kiddies.

Thanks Dorothy
Yes I did the quilting on both of these two quilts I have posted myself. Its not the best but I am enjoying the learning process. I can see all the mistakes :)
I am loving it....I found some stencils I loved and am loving my chalk pounce that disappears with ironing. For the lighter fabrics I used a template I made out of freezer paper then peeled away when I was done - basically many of the techniques we learned in class...

That is a real treasure and I know she will love it. It should really brighten up the class room as well.
