12" Kitty in the Window Block - made with a jelly roll!
I'm going to have a quilt of these little cuties for Mom by Christmas. (Or else, self! Or else!) I found the non-jelly-friendly block instructions HERE and they just happened to convert really well to jelly-measurements.
If anyone would like to know how to construct this and can't do it quickly from the link, please feel free to PM me! I just made the block on my 30 min lunch break + 15 min break as I worked on puzzling it out. It was friendly to little slips and mistakes, too. http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...lyCatBlock.jpg (Jelly rolls features are Connecting Threads batiks and marble.) |

Nice adaptation of the 'usual' directions.

Adorable!!!

That's going to make a pretty nice quilt for your Mom ( nor yourself!.... or both?)
Being that you've already done the conversion work, maybe you'd be so kind as to share the info here? Please and Thanks! Besides, it may save you a lot of PMing about it! Hope so! |
Very nice pattern and use of jelly rolls.

Hope so! http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof.../cat_quilt.htm I mostly followed the pattern listed on the site I linked above, but I just changed the cutting a little bit to accommodate a jelly roll. Instead of their cutting measurements, use these: Cat Body - Strip 1 - Two 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" (you will then sew these together to equal the 4-1/2" x 8-1/2" called for in the pattern) - Two 2-1/2" x 3" (you will then sew these together to equal the 3" x 4-1/2" called for in the pattern) - Two 2" x 2" Background - Strip 2 - Two 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" (you will then sew these together to equal the 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" called for in the pattern) - CHOICE: either Two 2-1/2" x 2" (sewn together) OR One 2" x 4-1/2" - One 2" x 2" Window Frame - Strip 3 (should use almost the whole thing) - Two 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" - Two 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" After you sew together the ones I indicated in the cutting directions, your pieces will be the exact same sizes as the ones listed in the pattern and you can follow its directions from that point. They're very straight-forward and reasonably forgiving. The only points you really have to worry about are the ear-tips. |
Thanks Jennalyn, for sharing the fabric measurements.
I want to do a Kitty Quilt ........... sometime! And collect cat patterns as I see them. So it might become an assortment of different kitties! We'll see what it turns out to be. Someday!!! :) |
