12 Word Sampler

This was such a fun quilt to make. I pulled pretty much all the fabrics from stash. It is a great skill builder. But, I would not say it's beginner or novice friendly unless your confident. But, I found it a great learning experience. It's taken me about a year to finish. (I had more stops then starts.) And, I wouldn't call it completely finished yet. It still needs it's final border. Which I'm in the process of designing and doing the Math. (Not my strong suit.)

This is not my blog. Feel free to try it out or not.

I could not find finishing instructions on this quilt. I just made mine up as I went along. If your interested in the borders I used, just personal message me and I will help you all I can.

Thank you ladies.

I just love the positive words. I also love bright, white and scrappy. But, would eventually love to see others take on this quilt also. I guess I will have to search the web and see if anyone else has made it as well.

Love the blocks. It will be a nice quilt to have around.

Great skill builder indeed! I see so many different techniques in this and the finished quilt is a delight. So much to look at and discover. The crazy quilt valentine is a treasure and I almost missed your tiny little hand embroidered "adore" on that one. As I viewed each block I wondered how you would put it all together then I scroll down to the finished top. I love how you set it with white and the little pinwheel blocks. The setting lets every block of the month shine and they all go together. How did you do the larger lettering? Is it fusible applique?

Judith1005 05-08-2017 02:58 PM

Yes, All the larger letters are done with fusible. I chose to do raw edge applique and on some, I zig zagged with a tight zig zag stitch to get the look I wanted on others. (I don't have an embroidery machine, but, I'm sure you could do much with lettering with that also.) The only big thing I changed from the original pattern was the April block was the letters "Inspire". I hate to paper piece so, I did applique instead. But, there are other blocks in there that do use paper piecing as well.

It is an interesting Block of the Month using all different techniques.
