Wonderful work from you both...Can I ask how long it took you to hand quilt? Such talent

I started quilting it the middle of September. I have a full sized floor frame that I use (like they use for old time quilting bees except it doesn't hang from the ceiling) so I can pin in the whole backing out flat, layer on the batting and top and quilt with no basting and then roll it in as I quilt. So that saves me a lot of time. The first few weeks it was like an obsession; I couldn't leave it alone. I loved watching it come to life beneath my fingers. Now I need to sew the binding on and hand stitch it. She has it all cut and pressed. So she should have the beauty before Christmas!

Thanks for your compliments everyone. I'll pass them on to the lady that pieced it. She did an incredible job on it! This is my first time to quilt for her. My mother did several for her and she passed her on to me. (Mama is making quilts for her 17 grandchildren right now.) I was awestruck when I saw what she had entrusted with even though she only had my mother's recommendation to go on as to my quilting skills. Mama told her I quilted just as well, but was more creative. I think my customer was putting me to the test and sent me a challenge. I tried to quilt it as it might have been quilted in the '30s. I hope I did it justice.

What a project of love by both of you. The quilting enhansed the piecing, and the piecing is incredible. The beautiful pastels she used, the border applique is amazing.....I'm blown away and hope I'm can quilt half as good at 80. Wow

Martha, you mentioned other quilts she's made - any possibility you might get some pictures of those for us to see? Obviously this is one beautiful and awesome quilt and we'd love to see more! :o

What a wonderful quilt. You did perfect on the quilting. I think some I see on here are 'over' quilted, just my opinion. Love the basket block with the birds on it.

Absolutely beautiful. One of the nicest samplers I've seen.
