hi ladies, thought i would show you the top i hand QID. my sister sent it to me from nashville tenn. she got it at a garage sale for like $2, and never did anything with it. a lady at lovin stitches in fayetteville, n.c. looked at it for me. told me it was a 1930's. and that the lady who made it was prob well off. cause she used colored thread to sew it together. 2 strands of red, or white, or whatever color she had at the time. it had been hand sewn together, loosely. so when i QID, i tightened up the corners or where ever it needed it. thx for looking. hope you enjoy it. it was in perfect condition and i just replaced l block in it.

Beautiful quilt - IMH..H..O, some fabrics look to be later than 1930. Still a great deal and great find.

Its looks pretty!

What a beauty! I also think the fabrics are later than the 30's. I really love older quilts! Thanks for sharing :D

I just love that you made this into a quilt!! So many times tops are left as they are, which I think is a waste of fine work.
I love this old quilt. It's full of character!! |
well, you all may be right about newer material. i have no idea. i was only going by what the appraiser in the quilt shop told me. and it wasn't a paid for appraisal. i was hand quilting it in the motor home as we traveled, and i was ready to add a border. i went into the quilt store and took it with me, to ask the opinion of anyone that was willing to give it. they went and got the 'expert'. and she told me not to put a border on it. to leave it as it was. she was amazed that i had hand quilted it. didn't tell her it had sat in the frame for like 3 yrs 3/4 done. not until i retired did i finish it. i think i acquired it oh,,,, in the 90's.
