I just read what I posted about the quilt I just finished...it is a little confusing to me and I wrote it. The BQ quilt in the picture is 74X90. The next one I will do is 40X40. I have also worked on the challenge quilt today and it is the smallest at 20X20. Yesterday I played WII video games with my grandkids and I am sore today. If you need a workout I recommend you get a WII video game, great workout and tons of fun.

This is the "BQ" pattern, fun & easy.

And here are some pics of the quilting on the BQ.

I loosely followed the design in these blocks.

did different quilting in different places

I did leaf quilting in the dark frames, there were also line drawings of leaves on that fabric.

The quilt is stunning. Did you do FMQ, or a bit of marked and FMQ???

Jim's Gem 08-23-2009 07:54 AM

Beautiful quilt and your quilting is superb!

RedGarnet222 08-23-2009 07:56 AM

I have this pattern too. It is a ugly quilt on the pattern front. Oranges ..ugggh.

That being said, I really love your BQ quilt. I have seen many of them made up recently. I really like your fabrics you chose for it.

Many people just use all the same in the large blocks, which is ok, but I love the sampling effect that lots of nice fabrics make. It just makes the quilt and is how the designer intened it to look.

I hope you do well in your guild show. It is a pretty quilt, and deserves attention. Let us know how you do.

Jaynie 08-23-2009 08:52 AM

Esqmommy, to answer your question...it is all FMQ. I don't mark anything and I really don't like using pantos. I just do my own thing. Thanks for the compliments.

Katrine 08-23-2009 09:27 AM

Great quilt, and particularly the different areas of fmq.

Esqmommy 08-23-2009 09:32 AM

Well Jaynie - you are one fantastic FMQ'r. Nice work. I recognized it in some places, but others looked so much more, well, pristine for lack of a better explanation. Your quilting is really pretty!

Dorthy, the BQ stands for "big quilt". I have seen it done in a huge array of combinations. This one goes together really quickly. I think you will like it. Check out these online sites for patterns & kits:

Just type in "BQ quilt pattern" in your search and it will give you lots of possiblities.
