It's looking like you have nice narrow logs, which can make it even more beautiful.

Remember, there's no rules ... the light side does not have to be as contrasting as yours ... sometimes the two sides might be different colours, such as blue/pink; or dark blues and light blues; black/red.

Other significant centre colours ....
Yellow ... the light in the window
Black ... quilts made after a death (RomanoJG -- the slave significance makes total sense, and I'll remember that one in the future)
Red ... represents the fire in the hearth (as per Ruck)

Here's two of mine. One with the traditional red centre. The brown one was before I learned the significance. The centres are all the same brown fabric, and after that, it's totally scrappy, hit and miss, keeping lights/darks to their sides.

I would love to know what pattern you used on that jumbo log cabin on the bed. That would be perfect for my DS bed. I haven't attempted a Log cabin yet, and I think this one would be fun.

Your blocks are terrific! Love the scrappiness! :)

I'm enjoying making them but if the lights need to be lighter I prefer knowing now. Thanks for your input.
I'm really looking forward to playing with the placement of the blocks for different affects and see which one I like best. I'm making this for the bed in our camper. I want to make it to be a spread that hangs over the edge, not just a quilt size. I am getting entirely toooo many scraps, so thought this'd be a nice way to use them up. I'm also going to do it as a QAYG project. That's another reason why I wanted to check with you all before I wasted time & supplies on that, if I really should tweak it before going on.

I think your quilt will be stunning!! I love the scrappy look and can't wait to see it finished. Keep going as you are!!

Very nice contrast. Log cabins are a wonderful way to use scraps and have it look like that is the way you want it! It will be great when complete.
peace
