I've had my machine for about a year and typically I do pantographs, but I want to learn to do freehand custom. So I decided to take this top that I got at an auction and do some custom work on it. It is not the best but it looks pretty good for the first one, I think.

No it's not my first quilting, but it is my first time doing a custom design on a quilt. Normally I just do pantographs, follow a design, but I want to do more custom so that is what I did on this one. I can follow a pantograph pretty good, so I guess that helped me with some of the custom work.

I did use a straight edge ruler and some circles to help me complete this.

That is always the hardest step - doing the first free motion/custom quilt. Good job and keep playing around it makes all the difference in the world.

Excellent !!!! Wonderful job quilting. I have a friend that taught herself with pano's first... make's it easier she said to go free motion... I started just free motion.. you did great.. I have a quilt the same colors and same pattern... :)
