1st handquilted quilt

Took me almost a year to make this. Enjoyed the process too.
Don't know if you'll be able to tell by the pictures... but I quilted the big stars in blue and the smaller ones in red. |
What fun. That should wake everyone up. So far the only things I have handquilted are a couple of baby quilts. I am giving serious thought to doing a bigger quilt. Thanks for sharing.

A treasure ... so glad you are using it -- it's why it was made!
|
Oh, I love the colors and the design! I'm going to try my hand at hand-quilting this year too.
|
It is beautiful but the fact that you enjoyed the process is the most important thing.
|
Love your quilt. It looks fabulous on the day bed. Can see your stars but couldn't tell the color of the small one.
|
Love the bright quilts. We get a good amount of bluebonnets here in north central Texas too.

What a Gorgeous quilt you have just shared with all of us. You did a wonderful job hand quilting it too. Give yourself a pat on the back, from me for doing such a great job!! I just LOVE it!!

Really a fun quilt, great job and thank you for sharing
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
Thank y'all for your kind words.
I realize this isn't traditional colors for a quilt. Most of it was made from scraps/left-overs. My goal is to try and use what I've got, only buying what I need to finish up a quilt. As I could never live long enough to use up all my fabric! :D |
very nicely done... bright and cheerful
|
Great job. Congratulations on finishing a great project!
|
Love the bright colors! Congrats!
|
it is a nice happy quilt
|

Just to let you know. I'm a hand quilter also. My very 1st quilt, I did was a king size water bed quilt, and I sewed it,// hand quilted it in the first year. My 1st quilt show was the following year. I still have the quilt, with worn out fabric, and so on. I'm hand quilting a grdmothers flower garden, a lady friend gave me. She hand sewed every peice by hand. I'm 98% of haveing it done. Roughly guessing 2500-3000 peices in this quilt. 1 more quick note, I get in my chair of a evening, and my 3 dog's are in the chair with me. And they dont move until I move. I get stiff, after so of time sitting. I'm hooked on hand quilting. The needle I use is a quilting/between, size 11. Don-isewman

Again, thanks for all your kind words.
While I enjoy finishing a quilt quickly, handquilting has it's place too. It is relaxing to take your time and enjoy. Sending out a "howdy" to my fellow Texans. **not sure we will have a very good crop of wildflowers this year. Rain is scarce and not at the right time when it does come. |
