Finally figured out what to do with my Jane scraps.

2" blocks with 1/4" SA. Paper pieced from either Blockbase or EQ7. Can't remember which even though it was just this morning!

I love the colours! I think that it is lovely how you have manage to use the fabric up and not waste. Well done!

I'm one year into a two year Jane quilt. I suppose I could start using the leftovers from the past year and continue adding as time passes. Eventually, a blanket of 2" blocks.

I don't see very well and yet this is easy due to the paper piecing. Quick, too. I'll just print out some pp patterns in advance and have them ready.

Anyone interested in learning paper piecing should check out the tutorials on youtube. No need to spend money on lessons (but I do really like Carol Doak! She has a great yahoo group, too).

oksewglad 12-13-2010 07:05 PM

Wow what a quilt that will be! I love working with small pieces, but don't PP. Starch is my best friend some days!

QuiltQtrs 12-13-2010 07:06 PM

Great start for a mini-quilt/wallhanging.

It's Shoofly. Just looks kind of odd standing en pointe.

Thanks, everyone!

Great.

klarina 12-14-2010 01:09 PM

great job.
I'm experimenting myself for the first time with paper pieced blocks. I bought Foundation Factory Volume I and I'm having lots of fun.

QuiltswithConvicts 12-14-2010 06:38 PM

Aww, those are so cute!!!! Good use of your scraps - are you sure you won't need them for future DJ blocks? The fabrics are awesome, too

wraez 12-14-2010 07:04 PM

Don't think I've ever seen Foundation Factory before. Thanks for the heads up.

Did some rotary cutting tonight. It's okay every once in a while. Ha.

Edit: Quiltswithconvicts, I definitely don't need them for Jane. New fabrics every month!

That's great! Like I said - those blocks look really great and to think they're so tiny!!! I'm quilting JJ now, so I'm taking a break from the small ones and doing the Farmer's Wife Sampler & Sylvia's Bridal Sampler, both have 6" blocks. They seem huge compared to DJ blocks and must be gigantic when compared to your 2" blocks. Keep up the great work.

Merry Christmas!

FW trips me out with its ginormous blocks as well. Last couple days I've done 12" rotary cut blocks for a BOM and really blown my mind.

I have the Sylvia book and the Dear Hannah software. This stuff is never ending. :0D

I'm about to print out another batch of 2" block patterns...

Deecee 12-14-2010 10:15 PM

Wow, love your little 2" blocks.

They really are addictive, aren't they? I thoroughly enjoyed hand piecing JJ, but I am enjoying getting back to my Janome 6600, too. Are you going to join us in doing "Affairs of the Heart" in June?

You all are just the nicest bunch of ladies (I don't think there are any men, are there?) on this board. And to think, we are all over the world, but it feels like we're all in the same town.

Let us see what you've done. Like I said, they're so cute!

I love Affairs of the Heart but will be completely deployment crabby at that point. Don't let me loose on a room full of women next summer. I'll take them all out. I have 2012 penciled in for a big applique project. I also have a couple dozen military blankets to make by next fall (or by spring if Dix is really cold this year).

I have seen quite a few men around here. Really like a couple of them. They need to post more often.

Here are the latest 2" blocks. House and pinwheel. I'm excited about little houses. Mucho potential there.

QuiltswithConvicts 12-16-2010 09:06 PM

Sooooo cute!!!
