2 of 3 quilts making for foster children

2 Attachment(s)
Here are two of three quilt tops I am doing for foster children. My camera for some reason does not capture the colors very well.....But I am pleased as to how they turned out so far. Gonna get backing and batting cut this coming week so I can get them done and in the mail....

What a wonderful thing to do! Being a foster child can be tough a lot of times, this will bring some love and sunshine into their lives!

Those look good.
Color problems are generally lighting problems. Look at the settings on your camera. If you are using incandescent lights, for example, the pictures may appear too yellow.

Such bright pretty colors and so special to give to a child who often has little to call their own. Thank you for doing this.

You have got working with color down to an art form. I love the colors you chose, they add so much to the focus fabric. Great job!

debcavan 07-30-2012 07:36 AM

Wonderful, you made good use of those beautiful center fabrics.

It's always good to bless foster children with a quilt, make sure they know it was made for them special with love.

Making a fun or beautiful quilt for a child who probably never had something so much "just for themself" is a wonderful way to "take a break" between the more challenging designs. I do it also and know how much it can mean. The last time I did this I knew the family and took the quilts over to the kids. They didn't react much until they were told to take them, they were theirs. The two girls (about 7 and 10) took the quilts wrapped themselves in them, went into their bedroom and when I peeked in they were studying the quilts. Later I asked if I coud take a picture of them with their quilts and they would not put the design side out! They said that was their side, almost as if by sharing the specialness they might loose it! It was a beautiful gift they returned to me.

What a great idea. I have done kids quilts but never even thought of this....good idea I think I will call and see if there are any kids In my area that fit this category. I am making some lap quilts for the nursing home for those residents that do not have any family members. I love the fabric you used, those kids will just love them. Thanks for sharing.
