It looks great on the bed. As far as leaving the price up to her this could be tricky. Is she a person who knows what goes into making a quilt? The fabric, thread, batting, backing, the amount of time for the quilter? See what she offers but in the mean time you should figure out for yourself how much time and money went into making it.

They are both beautiful quilts. I've been quilting for over 25 years, yet I am always amazed at how simple patterns can look complex, but be easy to sew, and I love your setting of them. Great job. When I've made quilts for friends, if they ask for a price, I try to figure the cost of the fabrics, batting and binding, anything above that would be a bonus.

Thank you all so much!
I had a lot of green and brown scraps and even threw in a few cranberry ones for my browns besides purchases fat quarters to add to the stash. I would stick to scraps of the same color family for each of the colors needed. Bonnie Hunter did hers in reds, blues and whites.

And yes I am praying she doesn't pay me Walmart prices. At this point I will be glad to be done with them and move on to more fun! I am sewing the binding by hand while watching movies:D

I like patterns that look difficult but are rather easy in reality. You did a really good job putting the colors together. And the binding alone is a $300 job. LOL!

I know when my I asked some foodie friends how they figured the price of a cake I ordered, they said 3 times the cost of materials. Maybe that would be a ballpark estimate for you for a friend? It's still a very low estimate, in my opinion. I don't think I'd ever take on commission work.

I do hope your happy with the payment. If not let it go and learn. Some people that I know would pay a very fair wage for a quilt and others would have a hard time to cough up enough to cover the fabric.
