2 UFOs Ta-done for military pilots

These quilts are going to two brothers who are military pilots. One is Air Force and the other is Navy. I taught the Air Force pilot when he was in first grade a long time ago. His mother has kept in touch even with my many moves. We deliver them Monday. The Navy pilot will be there. It took me four years to get them Ta-done, so I hope they like them.

Well done! Excellent reason.

coopah 12-20-2015 05:32 AM

Thanks everyone. The large quilt has a house in the center with lighthouses printed on it, because the family lives near a lighthouse. Both quilts have a square with a Revolutionary War print near the beginning (top) and a 9/11 print at the end. There is also fabric with the Star Spangled Banner words on it. Part of the fun was finding those fabrics. Yes, I'll be sure to thank them for their service. Only one will be home. So thankful for all of our service members who do their best to protect us.

What a wonderful way to honor two of our service men. Without them we would not be the "land of the free because of the brave".

Very nice!! I really like the second one!

ManiacQuilter2 12-20-2015 07:11 AM

That is so nice of you to make these quilts for these two military pilots. You did an excellent job piecing and quilting both of them.

Thanks for all the kind comments. We just finished delivering the quilts. They were admired and very much appreciated. I don' t have words to properly express how wonderful they made me feel. I will let them know others also are thanking them through this thread. We have some wonderful men and women protecting us. It was a humbling experience to see how much they appreciated my work.

red-warrior 10-14-2016 08:09 AM

What a lovely way to honor them! I do not know many teachers that would do this .... you are the best!

coopah 10-14-2016 04:57 PM

Well, this family treated me well and always remembered me with cards and letters. Even when we moved. They were so appreciative that it was a pleasure to be able to make the quilts for the two boys...now men. It was a comfort to know such men were helping protect this country.
