Last year I joined a challenge which I found while doing some blog hopping called 365 daily circles and I have been working on it for the past 12 months. Finally the last stitch was put in today. Every circle represents something that I did or something that happened on each day and I would like to share my year with you.

beautiful quilt, what a challenge. did you applique the circles to the blocks?
very pretty quilt
That sounds like a very challenging plan. I'd love to see some close ups.
Very nice looking quilt. Are the circles applique?
What a fun quilt to have and look back on the memories you made while making it. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.
terrific quilt
I can't imagine doing this! However, yours looks wonderful and I also would love to see some of the circles up close. Are the designs appliqued to the circles? Are the circles appliqued to the quilt? That was a real challenging challenge!
What a unique idea! Sounds like a big challenge. Please show close-ups. I can't imagine so many different things in my day-to-day life to express in fabric so I'd love to see yours.
Wow, that is interesting...... Clever, creative way of remembering a year......
Effectively a visual diary of your year. Very nice. Any close-ups?
This is wonderful! I too would love to see some close ups and maybe you can feature a block or two and tell us what happened that you chose that fabric. And do please share a few more details about it like the size of the circles and squares and what method you chose for applique (fused or turned, hand or machine, or is this reverse applique etc). so far, it seems the responses are very curious about your beautiful quilt and I have to agree what a neat block a day challenge.
I love circle quilts like this! I have made one so far but the blocks were larger so I only had to put together 110. But my DH loved it so much he asked me to create a second one so I think I have enough circles appliqued to squares, I just have to get it laid out and sewn together. Here is a link to mine if you would like to look: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...c-t207883.html |
That is quite an accomplishment, you can be proud.
Cute quilt!
Love it very creative and interesting
I have a ton of asian fabrics. this is a great idea!
Love your circle project.
Clever idea-love your quilt
That was a unique idea, and how much fun it will be to review the year--years from now. I did that in diary form, including the foods we ate when we were fortunate to travel to Europe and today it calls up such fond memories.
What an unique idea! I admire your persevillance.
Wow, that is such a neat quilt! I did find a blog with this on it, but not sure it's the one you followed? http://quiltyfolk.blogspot.ca/2015/1...g-journey.html

An explanation of some of the blocks - the nurse represents a visit to hospital, eggs - I had breakfast out, the sewing machine - my quilting group day, coffee cup - had coffee with friends, the purple fairy - played fairies that day with my granddaughter, the boat - went for a ride on the Manly ferry, the tools - we had a builder in that day doing some work. I found this challenge very addictive and enjoyed having the opportunity to play with my scraps to find just the right fabric each day. I had all those fabrics in my stash and did not have to buy or beg for any. |
very unusual and creative quilt
I love this idea as a daily diary, but you could also use it by year LOL just make the circles larger. I had always wanted to leave as my legacy a quilt of my life and thought of using PP squares to symbolize events, but this would be an option. Yours is lovely and a real hierloom for generations. I would leave a key however in a pocket of the label to let others know why you made the decisions you did.............what fun.
This is a wonderful idea--meaningful and useful. It makes a pretty quilt that is also interesting.
what a neat quilt! And kudos for using all stash fabric!
way different but cool
Nice challenge quilt.
I like this idea. I lead a boring life so mine would have something about eating, sleeping, going to Walmart and going to church. Oh, and going to visit my new grandson. haha :D
Wow I can't imagine the work that went into your quilt!
very neat quilt!!!
A friend of mine made a diary quilt with each square representing a day of their life in the year before her husband passed. It was her own handwriting and was very interesting reading.
What a fun idea! You can do a short version when grandkids visit from afar! Thanks for sharing!
That is amazing!! What we get into with these challenges. What a terrific keepsake for you and your family. Hope this wins...I can't imagine another that would come close, but you never know. There are a lot of crazy quilters out there!! Good luck!
WHAT a project!!! It is fabulous. My girlfriend does this with her camera on her phone (I still don't own such a gadget) She takes a pic each day to remind her of whatever's going on. I thought that was CRAZY enough, but I could never have conceived of doing it as a quilt!!
What a beautiful tribute to a year in your life. Nicely done also. Thanks for sharing a quilt with quite a story.
